Terms of Service

Last updated: July 8, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Stacks mobile application and related services (the "Service") provided by Stacks ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Stacks is a personal budgeting and financial-tracking tool. It helps you plan a budget, track transactions, set money aside in savings buckets, capture receipts, and monitor your net worth. Features that connect financial institutions are provided with the help of third parties such as Plaid.

2. Not financial advice

Stacks is an informational tool. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and nothing in the Service should be relied on as such. Account balances, valuations, categorizations, and estimates are provided for convenience and may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for your own financial decisions.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required where you live). You are responsible for activity under your account.

4. Connecting financial accounts

When you connect a financial institution, you authorize us and our provider Plaid to access and retrieve information from that institution on your behalf. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's terms and privacy policy. You can disconnect an institution at any time.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to access other users' data, disrupting or reverse-engineering the Service, using it for unlawful purposes, or uploading content you do not have the right to provide.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and content, is owned by us and protected by law. You retain ownership of the data you provide, and you grant us the limited rights necessary to operate the Service for you.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data from third parties will be complete or correct.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or financial loss, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
